Painted Driftwood

Painted Driftwood

Welcome to the Hidden Path’s gallery of painted driftwood and natural found objects!   These organic pieces have a life of their own.  As I paint, I find that the natural patterns guide my hand, unfolding into mysterious creatures and whole mini-universes.  I am very much inspired by the endless array of patterns found in nature, in our solar system, and in the astrological tradition.  In addition, I am in awe of the art created by the Australian Aboriginals.

These four particular pieces are here for you to look at and enjoy.  If you like this work and are interested in having a custom piece painted for you, please fill out the contact form so we can begin the dialogue.  Custom pieces can be based on the patterns present in your natal horoscope, especially through using the elements.  Prices vary a lot, depending on what you are looking for and are agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.

 Antler

I found this antler amongst live oaks and redwoods in the golden hills of northern California, shed from a white-tailed buck.

 Desert Holly Coyote

This desert holly root system came complete with the coyote plainly visible and simply needing to be rendered.

 Lake Champlain Fire

The fire and water elements come together on this piece of driftwood that washed up on the shores of Lake Champlain.

 Manzanita Green Dream

From the prolific Manzanita shrub in the golden hills of California, this piece called for sage green against that wonderful red bark.
